Lawyer Cl mence Vallardin must convince her landlord that
she is married in order to secure the lease on an
apartment. She spins the same tale for C dric who is
madly in love with her and is willing to do anything to
please her, even if it means offering Cl mence a piano
C dric's tenacity begins to annoy Cl mence and when the
piano arrives at Cl mence's place, delivered by a man
named Farid, Cl mence persuades Farid to pretend to be
her husband and asks him to come and live with her in
order to get rid of C dric. This is when the landlord
comes to ask her to defend one his friends, the famous
counsellor Etienne Lavoisier. Farid has two daughters
whom he's raising alone, and if that weren't already
enough, Cl mence's mother then arrives unexpectedly
