Initialy, Darren Shan (Chris Massoglia) is only [in] one young man used to feel high vexed. At one time Darren and Steve Leonard (Josh Hutcherson), its friend, hear news that a circus will come to their city. Beyond one's ken Darren and Steve, this circus will become early new for both of them life.

In Darren this circus and Steve sees much bizzare creatures that initialy they predict is only mere deceit. Altogether walk normal till its second meet Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) mysterious. Steve suspects Larten is a vampir and try meet Larten without the knowledge Darren. Steve want to bes vampir like Larten. Unhappily Larten tells that blood Steve not compatible and unlikely turn into eternal creature like he/she.

Beyond one's ken Steve, in the reality Larten wishes Darren becomes its assistant that mean Darren will become vampir also like he/she. When know this condition, Angry Steve and assume that all of that have been arranged from early and swear will kill Darren and Larten. On the other side in the reality there is other creature that also wish clan death vampir by reason of themselves.
